The Commercial team is responsible for delivering the key performance indicators of the business. These are sales, cash margin and other income. Cash margin is also known as profit. Other income is money which Superdrug is paid by suppliers for things such as secondary location in store and features in marketing. Merchandisers work with the Buyers to ensure correct forecasts for promotional stock, and that stock is managed. They also run the range review process, which involves making decisions on products and the stores in which they will be sold. Also, they manage the introduction of new products to the market and the withdrawal of slow moving products from stores.
In order to deliver the key performance indicators, the Buying teams use levers such as the right range in the right stores, building promotional plans, maintaining our price position and driving new product launches. They are also responsible for managing our relationship with the suppliers of our products, including big household names such as L'Oreal, Unilever, and Proctor & Gamble.
