Financial Control is a big job and it takes an extremely capable and committed team to do it.

Part of the Finance department, there are 35 people in the Financial Control team. Working at the Croydon head office, they provide finance support and administration services for the Superdrug and Savers businesses, and also our Parent Company, A.S. Watson.

The team deals with:

• Corporate Reporting - management and statutory accounts, fixed asset accounting, cash flow monitoring and forecasting, and VAT and Corporation Tax

• Commercial Accounts - accounts payable and receivable in relation to the purchase of commercial products and services

• Expense and Estates Accounts - accounts payable and receivable for non-product items like utilities, rents, rates, maintenance, expenses and other overheads, administration of the property database and support to the Property team

• Store Accounts - store takings and bank accounts, processing and reconciliations, security cash carrier collections and banking, and pharmacy takings reconciliations

• Central Product Administration - ensuring the accurate set up and maintenance of product and supplier data across the Superdrug and Savers businesses

Financial Analysis is such a critical part of our business that there are 21 people in the team totally dedicated to analysing the profitability of the two companies.

Working out of Croydon and Dunstable and part of the Finance department, the team delivers analysis across all areas of profit and loss statement, sales, pricing, promotions, store costs and central costs. Our mission is to provide clear insight in support of critical business decision making.

Keeping track of everything is the job of our Retail Audit department.

Part of the Finance department and working out of head office in Croydon as well as out in the field, this 11 strong team conducts compliance audits across our entire store estate and provides compliance related support and training to our Operational teams.

At head office we also manage the Company stock take programme and provide analysis on store stock take results. Additionally, we advise and consult on new and existing business processes to ensure that they are fit for purpose.

The work involves auditing, stock take analysis and reporting, so when we're recruiting, mostly we look for people with experience in delivering great compliance standards, strong report writing skills, analytical flair, and good written and spoken English. The IT skills we seek are MS Word and Excel and we like people to have a real passion for compliance and preventing shrinkage.
