We currently have a brilliant opportunity for a Credit Control Team Leader within our Finance team. This role is responsible for overseeing and providing support to the credit controllers within the Credit Control team, providing credit control support to Superdrug, Savers and Three ensuring all collection of debt is undertaken in a timely and correct manner. In this role you will work closely with Commercial, Buyers, Property, internal audit and IT primarily to ensure continual development and compliance to debt collections procedures relating to the business’s finance requirements. 

This role will assist the Credit Manager to define an agreed service level and work within that SLA with other business functions within Superdrug and Savers. Ensure service levels and metrics for the Three agreement are adhered to for Property Aged Debt and participate in monthly meetings. You will review with the Credit Manager the aged debt monthly and assist with the calculation of the provision for doubtful debt in line with AS Watson guidelines. Provide insight and commentary to management when required.As well as ensure all monthly reporting of performance and metrics is completed and discussed with the Credit Manager. 

A important part of this role will be to manage and develop our Credit Controllers, supporting their active involvement in the development of all activities and services provided to the business. This will include recruitment, training, development and appraisals. 

  • A.S. Watson (Health & Beauty UK) Ltd is the UK Group mainly comprising of Superdrug Stores plc, Savers Health & Beauty Ltd and The Perfume Shop Ltd
  • You will be responsible for overseeing and providing support to the credit controllers within the Credit Control team (3 FTEs), providing credit control support to Superdrug, Savers and Three ensuring all collection of debt is undertaken in a timely and correct manner.
  •  You will work with closely with other functions (i.e. Commercial, Buyers, Property, internal   audit and IT primarily) to ensure continual development and compliance to debt collection procedures relating to the business’s finance requirements.
  • Credit control
    Ensure:
    All processes are fully documented and
    followed by the team and assist the Credit Manager with an annual review.
  • All debt is chased and collected in a timely manner, dealing with queries promptly and efficiently
  • Being an escalation point for the credit controllers and escalating to the Credit Manager where appropriate.
  • All receipts are allocated daily for
    tenant, property, commercial and pharmacy debts.
  • The reconciliation of Pharmacy income to
    ensure that it has been received and apportioned correctly with any outstanding
    debt chased.
  • Appropriate approvals are obtained prior to engaging with debt collectors or bailiffs.
  • All write offs and adjustments are processed in accordance with defined guidelines.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Experience having been responsible for
    own portfolio of customer collections.
  • Experienced credit controller or senior
    credit controller in a centralised finance functions/ Shared Service Centres in
    multi-site businesses essential.
  • Experience in supervising a small team
    of personnel.Ability to build strong relationships, influence and communicate cross functionally at most levels, demonstrating leadership.
  • Ability to understand the “big picture” as well as having an eye for detail.
  • Personality traits of credibility, integrity, initiative, determination, and results-orientated.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and looking for creative solutions to issues
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
