Role Purpose:

The Senior Research Manager will be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of Superdrug’s rapidly growing in-house research activity, generating high quality insights which drive action both for our internal teams and external clients.


A typical day in this role includes:

Designing, leading and overseeing research projects that deliver timely, relevant insights, employing a range of quant and qual methodologies appropriate to each task.

Engaging with key external clients – including major household name brands in Beauty and FMCG – to build strong working relationships and secure new research projects.

Building knowledge of the business and wider retail market to ensure research project outcomes are targeted, relevant and actionable.

Presenting and sharing insights with external and internal decision makers, including Superdrug directors, to ensure opportunities are acted upon and to further build on the reputation of the Research team. 

Working collaboratively with other members of the Insights team to develop the team’s strategy.

Ensuring the team is using the latest research tools and methodologies, keeping up to date with sector trends and continuously seeking improvements to existing approaches.

Providing leadership for the Research team members; providing mentoring and training on an ongoing basis to support their development.

Ensuring all research activities are conducted in accordance with legal and privacy requirements.

Stakeholders include: 

Internal – Buying, Marketing, CRM, E-Commerce, Merchandising, Store Teams, Commercial Finance 
External – Suppliers (Multinational FMCG companies) and Research Agencies

What you’ll need:

A strong background in conducting end-to-end research projects with proven results
Experience in line managing researchers as part of a team
Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies (including questionnaire design, sampling, discussion guides)
Experience in client relationship management and proposal writing
Experience of drawing out insightful, actionable findings from data
Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) 
Excellent project management skills

Desirable: 
Retail, marketing or FMCG experience (client or agency side)
