Retail Finance Team : Purpose
The
Retail Finance team is a team of 8 (including this role) supporting the
800 strong Superdrug store estate and their leadership team, including the
Retail Director.
The
Retail Finance team are critical to the success of the Retail Team
providing end-to-end Finance support. This includes weekly and monthly reporting, KPI measurement, month
end, forecasting and budgeting, contract support and analysis &
insight
The Retail Finance team is part of
the Commercial Finance Team which together provides Financial support to
most of the Executive Directors, helping the Superdrug business deliver
its goals.

Retail Finance
Manager: The Role
To
be the Business Partner to the Retail Director – delivering great support,
advice, insight and analysis
To
lead a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants in delivering
seamless support to the Retail team
Setting
the tone, accountability and ownership of delivery whilst developing the
team so they are recognised for the excellent service provided.
Supporting
the change agenda as we simplify and streamline processes and invest in insight
and analysis
Key Responsibilities
Management of a team of 7 analysts and accountants ensuring the team works efficiently, supporting non-finance customers, and continually challenges and adds value
Lead finance representative at the Retail Exec Board, offering financial insight and challenge into the retail strategy and business decision making process
Overall responsibility for the following lines on the P&L:
Wages – ensuring accurate accounting and value adding reporting, e.g. weekly wage cost flash, month end cost analysis etc.
Shrinkage – ensuring tight control and reporting of costs through involvement in the Shrinkage Action Group, company strategies, day to day analysis etc.
Controllable store costs and overheads – to create a no surprises environment
Overall responsibility for the Finance business partnering of all 6 Regions
Control of the Retail budget process – includes guiding the regions and areas through the budget process as well as overall control of the retail cost lines
Overall responsibility for the Company’s Retail KPI Bonus model
Ensure all of the team’s reporting remains timely, accurate and relevant
Responsibility to share best practice and analysis across all regions, through listening to the retail teams and acting on feedback to continually improve our levels of support

Person Specification
A suitable
candidate would have the energy, drive and determination to develop the Finance
business partnering the team provides to the Retail Team. This is an exciting opportunity in a thriving
business that would suit someone who has a focus for detail whilst seeing the
bigger picture of how the team can move forward.
Qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent)
– essential. At least 5 years PQE
Good
communication skills - essential
Experience
working with non-finance customers - essential
Advanced
knowledge of Excel – essential
Knowledge of
Power BI – an advantage
Experience
of working within a Retail finance team - preferable
