This is an exciting opportunity for a senior lawyer to join a fast paced and commercially focused legal team and to provide strategic and pragmatic legal support to A. S. Watson and its three business units in the UK - Superdrug, The Perfume Shop and Savers.
You will negotiate a wide range of strategic and high profile technology, digital, marketing and media contracts. You will act as a trusted legal adviser to colleagues throughout the business units at various levels of seniority. You will report to the Head of Legal and will be a key player within the Legal Team. You will have one direct report (Legal Counsel (Privacy)) and will also be responsible for contributing towards the supervision and mentoring of other junior members within the team (including a trainee and paralegal).
A typical day in this role includes:
Negotiating a wide range of strategic and business critical IT, eCommerce, SaaS, marketing, media and digital contracts. You will liaise directly with and obtain approvals from Group Legal, where internal policy requires this. From time to time, you will be required to negotiate contracts awarded as a part of a wider European tender with our sister companies, which will involve liaising with relevant stakeholders across the wider business.
Working closely with the Procurement team to help ensure Group Procurement policy is adhered to and provide ad-hoc advice on tender and contractual process. You will become a valued partner to the Procurement team.
Main Legal point of contact for IT, eCommerce and Superdrug Mobile teams.
Assisting in the delivery of the strategic aims of the Legal department.
Developing and delivering training modules to the business on key legal issues and supporting in maintaining and developing the Legal team’s knowledge database.
Managing legal disputes with third parties, including drafting letters before action and instructing external advisers as required from time to time.
Supervising and managing a Legal Counsel (Privacy) within the Legal team, together with contributing towards the supervision and development of a trainee and paralegal.

What you’ll need:
UK qualified lawyer of at least 8 years PQE.
Extensive IT/Technology contracts experience.
Solid privacy/ GDPR experience.
Trained and qualified in private practice at a top law firm.
Able to mentor and supervise junior lawyers.
