 Property & Investments Finance Purpose

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Property & Investments Finance team as a Senior Finance Analyst.

The Property & Investments Finance team forms part of a larger Commercial Finance team consisting of Commercial & Marketing, Healthcare Finance, Online & Distribution, Procurement and Retail Finance.

The team is made up of 7 Finance Analysts and Management Accountants providing financial analysis and support to the Property Director and the Property Leadership team.

The team own the Property running costs from a Finance perspective and act as valued business partners, ensuring that the analysis provided supports decision making.

Job Purpose

This is a key role within the Property and Investments Finance team that has the responsibility for the financial management of all Capital Expenditure of Superdrug and working with the Property and Investments Finance Manager in improving the processes in these areas.

You will also be responsible for Repairs & Maintenance and Utilities costs which are under the control of the Property Director & the Head of Health & Safety and Facilities and will work closely with them as their Finance Business Partner to deliver value adding, accurate and timely financial analysis in order to support their strategic and commercial decision making.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of all Capital Expenditure across Superdrug.
Responsible for robust capital tracking, regular reporting and analysis at Division and Project level and business partnering with different Project Managers, ensuring that the capital is being spent effectively and generating appropriate returns in line with the Company’s objectives.
Own the month end processes, ensuring that all Capital Spend is accurately accounted for and be able to provide insight into variances where appropriate.
Support in developing, compiling and presenting capital investment requests and to perform post investment analysis in related areas
Lead on the Quarterly Forecasting and the Annual Budgeting process for Capital Spend, co-ordinating the inputs from across all areas of the Business and producing value added outputs for Board review.
Answer & co-ordinate responses to Group Finance on relevant monthly/quarterly submissions
Manage the day to day activities of the Fixed Asset Accountant direct report and support with their on-going development. Overall ownership of Fixed Assets Register & Depreciation

Repairs & Maintenance / Utilities
Own the Month End processes for Repairs & Maintenance and Utilities costs ensuring there are robust controls in place, and all costs are correctly accounted for.
Responsible for producing analysis which will deliver value added insight to key stakeholders allowing them to formulate a strategy for jobs undertaken across the estate.
Responsible for the Quarterly Forecast and Annual Budgeting process for all spend.
Act as the Finance Business Partner for the Head of Health & Safety and Facilities, helping them with cost centre queries, forecasting and budgeting
Establish a strong and effective working relationship with the Finance teams of our 3rd party providers and attend relevant external meetings where appropriate.

Develop an understanding of all areas controlled by the Property function in order to support on adhoc analysis / help provide support to the wider Property and Investments Finance team where appropriate.
Identify and deliver developments in reporting, system use and processes ensuring they deliver robust business information in an efficient manner.

Person Specification
Knowledge of Management Accounts and Capital Expenditure essential
Advanced knowledge of Excel essential
Working knowledge of Oracle desirable
Experience of working within a Retail environment preferable
Strong communication and time management skills
Ability to develop strong working relationships both across the business and with external stakeholders, including working with non-finance customers
Self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic
