Role Purpose:

Working as part of the Distribution People Team you’ll be providing ER advice and general HR support to our teams on all people transactional matters. As well as being great at processes, compliance, consistency and fairness you’ll also be an advocate for our culture and understand the impact your advice can have on engagement across the teams you support. Working on key activities and projects whilst being super-efficient and great at time management to ensure the delivery of the Distribution People strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

To confidently advise on ER issues and be actively involved in managing the processes including performance improvement, disciplinary, grievance and absence in high volumes.

To gather feedback from teams and help maintain a healthy temperature check, identifying problems or trends early and escalating them.

To monitor sickness absence rates across Distribution and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed by line managers and processed.

Write referrals and liaise with Occupational Health to manage more complex sickness absence cases

To work with the People Business Partner to ensure that line managers are effectively briefed on any relevant changes to company policies and procedures

To deliver a best-in-class new starter process making sure all new members of the distribution team have a great welcome

To manage processes relating to employee journey including contract changes, flexible working requests, retention interviews, exit interviews and resignations

Promote equality of opportunity and enhance the diversity of the workforce

Team Development

To ensure the PDR process is fully embedded across all teams and being used effectively including the six success drivers

Working with the People Business Partner to complete organisation capability reviews that focuses on our ‘performance v potential’ grid to drive succession planning and talent development

Support with Team development days for all departments and share

Delivery of on-site people, procedure or process training, in conjunction with the People Business Partner

The Vital Basics

Provide professional support and advice on people sign off process to department and line managers so that they have the right people and structure

Carry out competency-based interviews to support the succession planning process through internal recruitment

Conduct exit interviews for leavers in your functions and analyse results, reporting on the outcome to line managers or heads of departments

Work closely with the Payroll team by processing JDA’s for changes to positions and leaver forms

Reporting Metrics

Review the monthly KPI report and agree actions based on turnover, absence, headcount with the People Business Partner

Manage the monthly organisation charts and data in line with the organisational changes

Key Health and Safety Responsibilities

Your duties as an employee are to:

Keeping data confidential

Only share data you are authorised to disclose and to authorised personnel on a need to know basis

Securely destroy/delete data when no longer required within the Company and legal timescales

Ensure passwords, PIN’s etc are treated as confidential and changed regularly and when you believe they may be at risk of being known

What you’ll need:


Experience of managing a high level of ER cases and processes at any one time.

Experience and exposure in running a high workload of employee relations cases simultaneously

Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships and credibility to influence and coach a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business

Energetic, fun team player with charisma, dynamism and a good dose of humour

Strong HR Administration skills with excellent attention to detail, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency

Ability to work under pressure, balancing and prioritising workload, whilst delivering

Excellent at getting it right first time, every time

Excellent written/verbal communication skills, planning and organising skills

Confident, resilient and self-motivated. Proactively developing your knowledge, skills and experience within the HR profession and continually seeking opportunities to add value

Ability to adapt positively to changing demands

Deal with confidential information professionally

Must demonstrate a genuine passion for the Company and customer

Drive to look for how we can make everything we do 1% better than before

Highly IT literate – Microsoft Office 365 (in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Willing to gain and share knowledge and get stuck in


Depth of generalist HR experience at advisory level

Experience of working in a fast-paced warehouse environment where change is constant and flexibility is vital for success

A passion for working in the ‘Beauty & Health’ retail environment

CIPD qualified level 5 (or working towards)
