To lead a team of trainers within the DC and ensure
all processes within that function are carried out to the specified standards
required, in a safe manner, ensuring operational efficiencies are identified
and maximised.
To manage all aspects of mechanical handling equipment
to include training and support.
To deliver health &
safety training and support the Distribution Centre Health & Safety Manager
Challenges, persuades and positively influences
upwards, peers and team members, drawing upon expertise and experience.
Uses initiative and professional
experience to make clear decisions. Being prepared to make difficult decisions and be assertive by providing
rational explanations.
Manages their own time and that of
others to effectively deliver the end goals being flexible with hours to
support business needs and attend meetings / training.
Supporting the delivery of the business
strategy through input and implementation of the DC safety strategy.
Establish all Safe Systems of Work &
Risk Assessments for their area of responsibility ensuring they are up to date
and that their team fully understand these and have signed up to them.
Support the Distribution Health &
Safety Manager in the completion of site audits, inspections, incident &
accident investigations and contractor control, etc
Probes and listens carefully, presents
information in a clear and appropriate style making technical information clear.
Mechanical Handling Equipment
Support the supplier
relationship for mechanical handling equipment to ensure all required equipment
is provided in line with business needs, delivered on time and to the correct specification. This should be in line with RTITB recommendations
to include LOLER, service and defect processes. Suitable monthly SLA / KPI meeting to be held with MHE provider and
minutes / actions produced.
To follow LOLER written processes.
To ensure MHE related T-Cards / BOA’s
and any other documentation is relevant.
To monitor use of all MHE related
processes and feedback on findings to the senior management team.
To advise and review trends regarding
MHE accidents / investigations and BOA’s. To lead all investigations (following the correct process) required involving
the training team, MHE supplier or external trainers. Next steps / recommendations to be
communicated.
Review training capacity to ensure it
meets operational requirements. Plan team resource accordingly. This is to include a documented hand over process
to the receiving department to support transition of trained team members. Formal feedback to be reviewed and follow up
actions if required.
Active involvement in monitoring all
aspects of MHE use, providing feedback to senior management, H&S and
supporting departments where required.
Review training content and update as
required, ensuring all training is in line with RTITB / IITSAR recommendations and
deliver training to these standards
Keeping updated on changes to the
standards of RTITB, ITTSAR to ensure out training is fit for purpose
Auditing using RTITB guide on
documentation and training matrix for accuracy our systems
Ensure consistency on MHE processes
inline with other AS Watson sites
To ensure MHE audit is compliant and
covers key areas (including all elements of H&S).
FLT instructor skill’s are maintained in
line with industry / company bets practice.
Act as the technical advisor for all MHE
related activities, utilising external resource where required.
