Here's the exciting bit…a day includes

You will negotiate a wide range of strategic and high profile commercial contracts and provide legal advice in relation to a variety of matters. You will act as a trusted legal adviser to colleagues throughout the business units at various levels of seniority. You will report to the Head of Legal and will be a key player within the Legal Team. You will have one direct report (Legal Counsel) and will also be responsible for contributing towards the supervision and mentoring of other junior members within the team (including a trainee and paralegal).

Key Responsibilities

Negotiating a wide range of strategic and business critical commercial contracts, including high value supply chain and logistics agreements together with high profile GNFR and services agreements.

You will liaise directly with and obtain approvals from Group Legal, where internal policy requires this. From time to time, you will be required to negotiate contracts awarded as a part of a wider European tender with our sister companies, which will involve liaising with relevant stakeholders across the wider business. 

Working closely with the Procurement team to help ensure Group Procurement policy is adhered to and provide ad-hoc advice on tender and contractual process. You will become a valued partner to the Procurement team.

Main Legal point of contact for Supply Chain, Property (GNFR, FM and related services), Security and Procurement teams.
Leading Modern Slavery taskforce meetings to ensure the business complies with its statutory obligations, including the drafting and publishing of compliant and accurate Modern Slavery Statements. 

Legal lead on Trade Action Compliance Group.

Advising the marketing teams on internal and external advertising, as well as promotions approval. 

Assisting in the delivery of the strategic aims of the Legal department. 

Developing and delivering training modules to the business on key legal issues and supporting in maintaining and developing the

Legal team’s knowledge database.   

Managing legal disputes with third parties, including drafting letters before action and instructing external advisers as required from time to time.

Supervising and managing a Legal Counsel within the Legal team, together with contributing towards the supervision and development of a trainee and paralegal.

You are proactive in identifying where legal support is required.
You take an adaptable approach, moving with the business as decisions are made.

Here's what you'll need

UK qualified lawyer of at least 8 years PQE.
Extensive commercial contracts experience.
Inhouse experience beneficial although not essential.
Trained and qualified in private practice at a top law firm. 
Able to mentor and supervise junior lawyers.
